Artist Statement
Since we can’t see our end, we also can’t see how it changes. This reassures us that it is worth doing what we dream of even if it doesn't seem to make a difference. The littlest of goals go a long way. The journey to my future won’t be perfect and will change. I wish to inspire and be inspired while having the desires of personal growth.
A personal philosophy of mine is to incorporate something cute and humorous into my own works. I’d make something for a targeted audience, which people just eat right up. It’s okay to “suck” at art, you may not be satisfied but someone else would be. You can’t be the best overnight, or with the snap of your fingers. I would like to make people smile and laugh through my artwork and bring awareness to those who need support. I am ready to make that difference. Hopping on social media trends have been in my favor to spread positivity and awareness to real world issues such as mental health.
I am a humorous creative genius who often makes mistakes. My brain is able to come up with abstruse ideas. As an artist, I am ambitious for most of the projects I create. I try to dig deep in controversial topics and depict them through art. My artwork varies from cute and loving to dark and traumatic.
I want to share my thoughts which reach farther than my peers. I want my work to grab people’s attention and make them gaze in awe. I’ve started to shape my art to bring awareness to real world issues. Art helps me make connections to people I wouldn't be able to interact with due to social anxiety. I enjoy using art for education purposes: to educate the ignorant and myself.
I challenge my own boundaries by asking “what if”. We defy the boundaries that are set upon us. I believe that in order to create and spread change, an individual has to first change themselves. In a recent society, mental health checks are implemented in schools and workplaces. By encouraging others to be comfortable in their own skin, not only asking but working with individuals leads to the change of human justice. I love seeing people's passions in their faces, their focus, their safe place, how it relieves them, and how it brings them peace.
My little self wants to make a small change that gradually becomes a huge domino effect. Art is created to inspire and communicate and that is what I am incorporating into my work. My work after the past year has changed drastically and my view and personal values are stable. That is a part of growing up in my own life and in my art.
Every opportunity to create art is a gateway to inspiration. I love to take risks, anything for inspiration or a chance to incorporate something new into my art. I’m at my best when I’m making something I haven't seen before; I’m not going to wait around for someone else to make it. Taking the opportunity and chance to change the world is a risk I will take. Art cannot create itself, only the artist can. I have the skills that come with time and practice if one wants to succeed.
Hello!
My name is Shaina Mae Yumol.
I am an artist from the Chicago Metropolitan area. I am a shy, quiet, and introverted person, however, I am open to any opportunities I see fit. I want to keep creating art and letting the world react.

"Tidypen" is the artist username I use on social media. The name comes from always carrying around a pen or pencil to make art on the go. "Tidy" is supposed to be contradictory towards how I create art and how I present it. It is not always tidy.
